Fatima Zahra Boukrim

Co-Founder & Executive Director

CANONIC

A governance framework is an idea until someone incorporates it, funds it, and makes it answer to a board. That work is unglamorous and indispensable, and it is rarely done by the people who write the architecture. Fatima Boukrim is the operator who does it. As Co-Founder and Executive Director, she turns CANONIC's principles into an organization that exists in the world.

Her background is operations under load. She holds an MBA from IMF Madrid Business School and spent her early career as a human-resources business partner across some of Europe's largest employers — Ferrovial, Sopra Steria, Auchan, Carrefour — running payroll, staffing, and labor compliance at scale in Madrid. She is a scientific and legal translator who works across Spanish, Arabic, English, and French, and a notary with a consulting practice in immigration and tax. The common thread is a person who makes institutions function across languages, borders, and regulators.

At CANONIC she owns the parts of the mission that touch the real world: revenue execution, EU expansion, and the Malta incorporation that gives the Foundation a European home. She is the bridge between the governed architecture and the European and MENA institutions that fund, certify, and host it — the connective tissue between an American research project and a global standard.

Her relationship with the founder predates the Foundation by a decade; she has been Co-Founder and Executive Director since the organization's formation. Governance describes how an institution should behave. Ms. Boukrim is the reason there is an institution to govern.
